What I learned in 2023
It’s infinitely harder to build a company than it is to be an investor; invest while you build
Serendipity is the catalyst for great things in your life and business; keep showing up and bring an open heart
Hustle without vision is a hamster wheel; don’t forget that your vision needs continuous sharpening
Great performers actively seek out their weaknesses and deficiencies; self-awareness is how you build confidence
Let the data change your mind; be expressive and transparent when you do so everyone else can learn too
No great human movement was done by one person alone; to win, you need a small group of highly aligned partners
Be socially daring: ask the hard questions and speak your truth; when you limit the small talk you increase the learning and connection
Momentum is to be both treasured and resisted; you need breaks in order to come back stronger and sharper
Bring on talented people who have proven that they get stuff done; its not enough to just get out of their way, you must give them your faith too
Be vulnerable about the mistakes you’ve made, what you’ve learned, and how you iterated to improve; vulnerability is inspiring
Business people are big boys and girls; immediately share important news, especially when its hard
An owner is someone who can’t sleep at night worrying about the business; everyone else is an employee
There is only one magic bullet: sharp, creative, strategic thinking; everything else is relentless execution
Mickey Mouse, Big Mac, Online Bookstore, Electric Roadster; each year you survive is your year to come up with your breakout star
Your family and your health are the roots of your tree; their strength determines how high you can grow
The world puts each person and event into your life for a reason; when you multitask, you miss the point
Harvest the lessons and experiences of your life; its all over in the blink of an eye
